Definitely different. It's good to know in case I need to decipher any stray Australians I come across. Big Hugs to you guys!
Thanks LaLa.
I recommend you have a quick squizz at this site: http://www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang.html?
I used to use a lot more Aussie slang but have kind of dropped it since I lived in the US for many years and now live here where I don't know any Aussies. I miss it though. :(
Sometimes they slip in though and it's pretty funny hearing my Dutch husband saying to our daughter "do you want some brekkie?" or "stop whinging!"
BTW - 'stuffed" doesn't mean tired it means 'up sh** creek." :)
My favourite Aussie word is "bludge". I also like all the expressions like "went down like three cheers at a funeral" and (this applies to Italian bureaucracy) "they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery."
My
lol @ Kataroma. Thanks for the language lesson:) My colleagues always use that work "stuffed" in relation to working a lot, tired etc. I guess up shit creek is the same..Tomorrow I am heading to Brissie;)
